El paisaje de Mallorca está surcado por calas, playas y acantilados en la costa y localidades típicamente mallorquinas en el interior, mientras que en el norte la Sierra de Tramuntana dibuja el horizonte con montañas superiores a los 1.000 metros. La isla cuenta con una red de carreteras de 1.250 kms, 675 de los cuales se extienden por tranquilas vías con una anchura media aproximada de 6,5m. Un 20% de las mismas discurre por puertos de montaña.
Durante todo el invierno, los mejores equipos ciclistas del mundo se preparan en la isla, pues en ella encuentran las condiciones idóneas para el entrenamiento. Los ciclistas profesionales que han visitado Mallorca tienen una opinión muy positiva sobre la isla, como por ejemplo Stephen Roche (ganador del Tour de Francia, el Giro de Italia y el campeonato del mundo), el cual llegó a Mallorca aconsejado por Miguel Indurain. Según Roche “Mallorca fascina, tiene una buena climatología, naturaleza que atrae y ofrece unas posibilidades inmejorables para los cicloturistas y profesionales”.
Durante los meses de diciembre a junio, equipos amateurs y miles de aficionados al ciclismo disfrutan practicando su deporte favorito en caminos comarcales llenos de gran belleza, y visitando los pequeños pueblos del interior donde confluyen la cultura y la gastronomía más auténticas.
En los últimos años Mallorca se ha convertido en uno de los paraísos ciclistas por excelencia a escala global. El gobierno, las regiones, los municipios, la comunidad turística y otros negocios se han adaptado a las necesidades de los ciclistas experimentando resultados positivos. Ahora ha llegado el momento de que Mallorca también cuente con un evento en el que se pueda compartir la experiencia acumulada y que actúe como catalizador, impulsando al sector a seguir avanzando y especializándose.
Mallorca se transformará durante la semana del CYCLING MEETING en la capital del ciclismo mundial.  Este congreso situará a la isla dentro del circuito internacional de eventos dedicados específicamente al ciclismo, convirtiéndola en el centro neurálgico y punto de encuentro donde los mejores expertos a nivel internacional (entrenadores, directores de equipo, médicos, científicos, empresarios, deportistas), profesionales del sector y aficionados puedan encontrarse, explicar sus experiencias y dialogar.
